Notes are an easy way to store everyday information. Write down your shopping lists, ideas for creative projects, goals for the year, or anything else you need to get your life organized.

Notes can be accessed through your Fastmail account on any browser, so they are always there when you need them. They are also available on the official Fastmail app, and can be synced to your iOS devices to view through their native Notes app.

You can click the pin to mark important notes. Pinned notes always stay at the top of the list.

If you have rich text formatting enabled, notes can also be written in rich text. This allows you to add colors, highlighting, lists, etc.

Tips and troubleshooting

Images can be added through the native iOS Notes app, and the images will sync to Fastmail and will display correctly on the web. However, because this is an Apple specific feature, you will no longer be able to edit this note in the web browser.

Notes are technically stored as emails in Fastmail as well as other mail clients. However, attempting to store regular email in the Notes folder will not turn them into notes, and they will not sync or show up as notes in the Notes view.

If you move or rename your Notes folder via an external mail client, Fastmail will no longer be able to sync your notes to your device and the Notes view will be empty on the web interface.

Due to a limitation within Apple Notes, if notes are synced to an Apple device and the device then syncs notes to iCloud, Fastmail will no longer be able to synchronize with it and the notes may be permanently deleted from Fastmail. If this happens, run a restore from backup to restore recently deleted notes.
