How to set up a vacation autoreply

If you're going to be unable to check your mail for a while, you might like to set up an autoreply message to let people know. To do so:

  1. Open the Settings → Mail → Vacation screen.
  2. Here you can enter the response you want to send in the text field.
  3. Select whether you also want to include any additional identities with the autoreply
  4. Choose if the message will go to all people who contact you, or only your contacts.

Automatic replies will be sent for as long as the box is ticked. A reply will be sent to the same address no more than once every 3 days, no matter how many times someone emails you. This is to ensure that people sending messages to you do not get multiple identical auto-replies from you every day.

Note, auto-replies will only be sent to messages where your email address (or that of one of your chosen identities) is in the To or Cc field. Autoreplies will not be sent to messages that are classified as spam.

To help remind you, if your vacation autoreply is active, a banner is displayed at the top of each conversation, with shortcuts to adjust the settings or switch it off.
